Masterful In-Home Training
Hello, my name is Ali Evanson, I am currently involved in the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional Program. The Karen Pryor Academy uses all positive reinforcement and clicker training techniques. Clicker work is fascinating and can be effective on any species. I am also working to become a certified Trick Dog Instructor as well as getting my certification in K9 scent work.
I began training about 3 years ago, though I have taken an interest in it my whole life. I began training horses and family dogs at a very young age, but never considered making a career out of it up until a few years ago. Now I love teaching animal’s new things and treating each animal as an individual. Many animals I work with are rescues and we don’t necessarily know what their past was like so we need to be considerate and take a different approach to training based on their individual needs.
Rescue is the main reason I delved into training professionally. I currently have 2 adopted pretty pitties, Sasha and Chunk. Both would be considered special needs, as Sasha is extremely fearful and Chunk has some aggressive tendencies we have been working through. I also have a horse named Amber, who I have had for almost 20 years now. Clicker training horses is extremely fun and just as effective in their training as it is in dogs.
I have completely submerged myself in the animal world; my whole life revolves around them from my training and professional pet care career to my schooling and my home life. I hold a seat as the director of fundraising for A Little R&R Animal Sanctuary as well as foster and train for them. I teach group training classes at Loyal Companions Veterinary Clinic. Plus every Sunday night I volunteer 2 hours for Safe Humane Chicago for their Lifetime Bonds program which consists of teens on probation working with different dogs through positive reinforcement.
